Terms & Conditions

Wood is of course a living product, so we cannot be held responsible for any movement of the wood after you have received your product. This includes splitting, warping, swelling, shrinking and discolouration of timber. It is normal to see some movement over time - timber does move in reaction to time of the year, weather conditions etc, and this is part of the wonderful characteristic wood provides - each piece is individual.

All of our gates are made to measure by us. Therefore you cannot cancel your order if your gates have already been made to your individual specifications.

To make a gate last, it needs to be properly cared for. We recommend that you treat your gates regularly, whether they are softwood or hardwood. The correct treatment will provide protection from moisture and UV rays, which in turn helps to prevent too much movement of the timber.

After years of use, we have found the following to be the best treatments for your gate/s:
Softwood (Swedish Redwood) - Barretine Wood Preservative (We use the shade Light Brown as we find it highlights the wood's natural grain)
Hardwood (Iroko/ Oak) - Barrettine Oil (We use the shade Natural Oak)
We offer an initial treatment service with our gates  - we recommend this as it provides the gate with protection from the elements prior to installation and makes sure all those pesky hidden nooks are covered!
(This does not apply to pressure treated softwood products). We recommend you retreat your gates every 6 - 12 months. You may also want to touch up any painted ironwork in your gate design (if applicable) to keep it looking at its best.

Please email us with your order confirmation so that we have it in writing - when you are ordering over the phone we will often ask you do this also. Your product will be constructed to the requirements described in the confirmation email.

All products will remain the property of Turners Gates until fully paid for. Unlike many companies we do not require a deposit, but we ask that you pay for your products on collection, or shortly before delivery or installation. However in special circumstances we may agree that you can remit payment after delivery - in this case we expect payment within 2 weeks of receipt of the goods. In the instance this deadline is not met, Turners Gates reserves the right to persue legal action immediately.

As all of our gates are made to measure by us, we cannot guarantee a standard lead time on any of our products, as this is subject to change. However, we will give you an estimated lead time on your order.

We offer a delivery service within certain areas - please contact us with your postcode and product required to find out if you are viable and we will give you a rough idea of cost, as you will be required to pay extra for this service

We also offer an installation service locally at an extra cost. Again you are welcome to send us a message (click the link to our contact form below) with your details and we'll let you know if this is something we can provide to you.

On installation, we will liase with you regarding a suitable date and time. We may require you to be present on site.

If you require ironmongery, we will use our experience as to what will work best with your product, unless you specify otherwise. This includes type of hinges, catches etc, and colour (We offer black or galvanised finish).

When we are delivering to you, we will ask you to sign a delivery note to confirm you have received your products. Please thoroughly check the delivery note and your products before signing. If there are any issues you will need to let us know within two working days after the delivery date. We cannot be held responsible for the replacement or refunds of goods after the delivery note has been signed confirming products have been received in good condition.
We cannot accept any liability for any damage to or loss of items after they have been delivered to your stated delivery address.
Please ensure that the delivery address you provide is correct, and that you arrange for someone to be at the address to receive and sign for the goods - you will need to make us aware if somebody else will be receiving the delivery on your behalf. We will let you know before the day of delivery to confirm a date - we cannot be held responsible for any losses you may incur through missed delivery times
If you do not let us know of any damage or loss of items until after you have fitted your gates, we are not obligated to refund, replace or repair any items.

Please note that we cannot offer a refund or take back gates once you have installed, attached ironmongery to, or otherwise modified them. This includes but is not limited to painting, priming, sanding, or treating the gates in any way.

Please feel free to email us for a no obligation quote on any of our products - it is best when doing so to have the following details prepared: The style/s of gate, garage door etc that you are interested in, rough measurements of the width of the area where your gate is to fit, and an idea of the height required. You might also like to send us a photo of where the gate is to go - especially if you are looking for an installation quote.

All quotations are rough estimates and Turners Gates reserves the right to alter these.
All prices are in British pounds and include value added tax.

We are able to take online payment via Paypal or banks transfer. Unfortunately we cannot accept card payments.

If you have any questions whatsoever about any of our products, from thickness of timber to treating your gate, our friendlly admin team will endeavour to advise you as much as possible. The same applies for our Ts & Cs - Just drop us a message via our Contact Form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
